What is competition policy?
Competition policy is the legal framework designed to promote effective competition in New Zealand markets. It aims to prevent anticompetitive conduct, protect consumers and ensure businesses compete on a level playing field.
Expertise
As a senior competition law practitioner, Anna has a strong interest in competition policy. She holds a Masters in Competition and Consumer Protection Law and chaired the Competition Law and Policy Institute for five years from 2019 to 2024.
Anna regularly engages with policymakers and has assisted numerous clients in drafting submissions on Commerce Act reforms. In 2026, she made an oral submission to the Economic Development, Science and Innovation Select Committee on the Commerce (Promoting Competition and Other Matters) Amendment Bill.
