Competitor Collaboration Guidelines

The Commerce Commission’s Competitor Collaboration Guidelines explain how competition law applies when competitors work together on initiatives such as joint ventures, research projects, or industry standards.

While collaboration between competitors can be legitimate and beneficial, competitors must take great care to ensure they do not inadvertently engage in cartel conduct. The Guidelines outline how the cartel prohibitions apply and describe the exceptions and approval pathways available for genuine collaborative activities.
